Breaking Your Own Ceiling
Sometimes, all you need is to take a step forward beyond your limit. This month reminded me that growth isnât about ease.
September was a good month . I decided to break my own ceiling and put myself in situation(s) that pushes me.
Hereâs the thing: Iâve always had a âtalking thresholdâ and a âPeopling exhaustionâ thing; this is how much I can talk in a day and how much human interaction I can have before I get exhausted. Once I reach those maximum, I become tired, like mentally tired.
This month, I found myself in a place where that threshold was tested. I have to speak, connect, and share in rooms where I didnât feel entirely comfortable.
I remember sharing an experience and I was asked âHow did you feel about sharing that ?â
Me: Nerve racking/ uncomfortable.
Few days of having the same routine, I suddenly feel like I could talk for a bit more and also my exhaustion around people had reduced. It felt like such a big win for me; it meant I could still be okay after going beyond my threshold, because I have a new threshold.
I thought to myself âYou donât know how far you can go, until you keep going farâ
This monthâs newsletter isnât just about me. I want to speak to anyone building their career whether youâre early in your journey or somewhere in the middle and feeling stuck.
You may think you canât move beyond where you are, You may think youâre not enough.
But hereâs what Iâve realised:
Sometimes, you donât know your true capacity until youâre forced to go further. Even if you stumble while at it, youâll learn from it.
And that learning is itself progress.
So donât be afraid of the uncomfortable rooms or those rooms that feel like they will stretch you. Step into them. Maybe, thatâs where you need to be for growth to happen.
This month reminded me that growth isnât about ease. Itâs about being willing to be uncomfortable, to be vulnerable, and to push beyond your current limit.
If youâre reading this and doubting your capacity remember: youâre stronger than you think, but youâll only find out by trying.
"Youâre stronger than you think, but youâll only find out by trying."
Thank you very much for this.
