One Cybersecurity Step at a Time π»π»π»π»π»
Just like security is a process for organizations, it is a learning process for anyone who wants to get into cybersecurity.
Just like security is a process for organizations, it is a learning process for anyone who wants to get into cybersecurity. While there might be so much pressure around you to know so much at the same time. You have to take it, βOne Cybersecurity Step at a Timeβ
I randomly opened my WordPad and came up with the tittle for this newsletter even though I already had a different newsletter in mind to send out this week.
Like I had said before, this newsletter is not meant to be βworkβ for me. So, let us go!!ππππππ
Oh , Hello UG Readers; - Thank you for reading, again!
I was having a conversation with an acquittance sometime last week and I was making emphasis on how sometimes we are just in a hurry to get to a phase, to be so good in everything so quickly (which is almost impossible).
Donβt you guys feel soooo overwhelmed by all the information you need to soak in at the start of your Cybersecurity career?
One of the major challenges I faced when I started my cybersecurity career was, I wanted to know everything. I see people talking about a new concept or thing and I am watching a YouTube video or spending hours online looking for a course or an article that explains it more.
I didnβt want to be left out in all conversations when it comes to cybersecurity. Over the years, I have realized that the pressure was unnecessary. Like I always emphasize, cybersecurity is too broad for you to want to know it all! It is worse when you are starting out.
There is nothing wrong in knowing and understanding little in some areas of cybersecurity. βLittleβ in this context means e.g., you understand and know a small fraction of threat intelligence while solidifying your skills in Vulnerability Management. You can build muscle in Vulnerability Management while understanding the concept of threat intelligence.
You do not have to know all the details of threat intelligence if that is not where your current focus is at. Just βFocus on your Focusβ.
Do not be in a rush, βit is a journey and not a marathon.β
On Being Intentional
If you read my last newsletter. I am giving you an update on how it went on my theme for August βIntentionalβ
Wheeww!
It started great . The intentionality was working out fine but then I think I hit a road block.
I wish it could see it through but hey, βIt is what it isβ - We go, again.πππ.
One thing I learnt is, it pays to be βIntentionalβ.
Want to study for 2 hours daily? Do it, no matter what happens that day . You may have to make some sacrifice but just do it.
I had so much going on but I made a commitment to study at least 10 pages of the PMBOK(Project Management Body of Knowledge) guide every working day.Β
A lot of days I had other things I needed to do (I had not planned for them, they just always pop out from nowhere) but guess what, I READ THOSE 10 PAGES! - Well, until I didnβtΒ ππ
It felt so fulfilling being in control. I mean, I studied over 100 pagesΒ - On the bright side, I am almost done studying .ππ½ππ½ππ½ππ½ππ½
September is another month, I am not sure what I will βtagβ it but be sure I will fill you all in. - While reviewing the draft for this newsletter I came up with a theme for September πππ.
βGratitudeβ - That is is! (This was an outcome of a conversation I had with Mrs. AK)
For September;
I want to be thankful and appreciative , for everything and everyone in my βcornerβ.
I want to pay attention to the random and little things in my life that gives me peace and joy.
Finally,
All I want to say is Keep Showing up , for yourselfππππππ
